Create a Desktop Shortcut to Display Properties

If you often change your Windows XP themes, desktop wallpaper, screensaver, general appearance or screen resolution settings, you might like to create a handy desktop shortcut to the Display Properties dialog.

To create a Display Properties shortcut, click "Start" and then "Control Panel". If the Control Panel is in "Category View", first click "Appearance and Themes" before proceeding with the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the "Display" Icon and then click "Create Shortcut".

  2. You will most likely see a message like the one shown below. Click the "Yes" button.

  3. An icon labelled "Shortcut to Display" should appear on your desktop.

Clicking the icon will immediately open the Display Properties window. For even easier access to Display Properties, you can drag the desktop shortcut to your Quick Launch bar.
