I have personally tested all tips included on this site. Tip testing is carried out on one or more computers running the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. In most cases, included tips have also been researched and verified via other reliable sources. I take great care to ensure that the tips work as specified. The majority of the tips included on the site are quite simple to implement, are easily reversible, and are unlikely to cause problems on your computer when implemented as instructed. Where appropriate, I include information about how to reverse procedures outlined.
I do not include tips such as advanced registry hacks that may potentially damage a computer's operating system if incorrectly implemented. If particular caution is required when implementing an included procedure, this is specified in the article and the reason for caution is explained.
However, there are many variables that can affect how well these tips work on a particular computer. Operating systems can be configured in a great many different ways. Third party software may unexpectedly alter the way a particular computer reacts when a procedure is applied. User error may mean that an included tip was not implemented correctly.
Therefore, it is simply impossible for me to absolutely guarantee that every included tip will work in the same way on your system as it does on mine. Furthermore, I cannot take any responsibility if things go wrong with your computer as a result of implementing a procedure included on this site. You are free to use these tips as you see fit, but you do so at your own risk.
While I claim no ownership of the tips themselves, I do claim copyright on the way they are written and the manner in which they are presented. You are free to link to any of the web pages on this site. However, if you would like to republish one or more of the tips as they are presented on xp-tips.com, please contact me first to discuss the issue.
